Inspired by the 16th century dwellings, international designer Ernest Santiago recreated the "Bahay Kubo" into an architecture that is both tropical and urban. There are many charms of the "bahay kubo", but the one that stands out is that, the indoors and outdoors flow into each other. A case in point is the Lanai that serves as the living room as well as the dining area with only the house posts and the vigan tiles separating you from the outside. The picturesque vista of the verdant hills and the glorious mountains view of Lakeside Farms serve like live paintings in your living room and dining area. Cooking is done in a kitchen hidden in one corner of the lanai, where the smoke and the aroma of food cooking can escape. Public and private rooms, form a continuos whole on the second floor. Huge and roomy, it was where storage, rest, work and other activities used to take place in the olden days, now it serves as a refreshing oasis to rest and sleep. The bathroom on the second floor is built to take long luxurious baths. There are verandas to gaze at the moon and the stars at the night and large picturesque windows capture the ever changing colors of the view of the beautiful Lakeside Farms. From the ancient structure of the house to the practical additions to the houses on stilts this is contemporary from a fresh, refreshing point of view.
